Alicante Bowls Clubs
Bowls is a growing sport and one place where you can play this game is in Alicante Province in Spain. You will not only get to experience this sport but at the same time enjoy one of the best places to be in Spain. Alicante province (named after its capital city, Alicante) is the south most province in the Valencia Community and is located in south-east Spain. The entire province is bordered southward by the Mediterranean Sea.
Due to its location the place has mild year round weather and there is relatively little rainfall. This is just the kind of weather where you can have a good game of bowls.
For those not too familiar with bowls, it’s a game where you have a somewhat asymmetric ball (bowls) which you try to roll as close as possible to a smaller white ball called a “jack”. This game can be played outdoors or indoors on grass or on synthetic surface. It’s typically called lawn bowl. The origin of this game is traced to England and at one period was actually banned due to its popularity which might distract men from practicing other combat skills.
In Alicante, bowling stretches across the entire province and not just confined to one particular area. To the north of Alicante (city) is El Cid Bowling Club in Benidoleig this is near Javea. The place has a big restaurant which is open to both club members and the public. There are also two bowling clubs near Javea and close to each other, the Javea Green Bowling Club and the Benitachell Bowling Club. Moving closer southward the city, other Alicante bowls clubs are Paraiso Mar, Albir, Finca Guila and Princesa Bowling Club. The last club is in the Hotel Princesa Complex and is located in Benidorm.
From Alicante City going southward we have the following bowls clubs: Bonalba, Monte Mar, La Marina, Quesada, San Luis, Greenlands, Vistabella, El Rancho, Lemon Tree, La Siesta, San Miguel and Emeral Isle. Quite a number of these clubs are near Torrevieja
Torrevieja is about 50 kilometres south-west of Alicante. This is another beautiful place which is known for its salt production, you can find mountains of salt when you go to this place. Of course there are also the beautiful beaches found in the area this being a part of the Costa Blanca.
In many locations in Alicante province there is also ten pin bowling, so if you prefer this kind of bowling then there are establishments that cater to this sport.
You can choose from so many bowling club locations and fit it in to your touring itinerary or fit your touring itinerary to your bowling schedules it’s up to you. You get the best of bowling and a fabulous vacation when you go to Alicante.
