Alicante Postiguet Beach
The beach of Postiguet (Playa del Postiguet) is situated near the centre of Alicante old town. One minute of walk from the City Hall and just a few meters from Hotel Meliá, it is found at the base of Benacantil hill guarded by the impressive Castle of Saint Barbara.
You can relax by taking a coffee or an ice cream in numerous shops or simply walking along this Alicante beach. There are a lot of playgrounds for children, terrains for beach volleyball and even open-air fitness facilities for seniors.
Very often you can see wonderful sand-sculptures and interesting street performers. From time to time, there are open-air music and other happenings. The most impressive one, of course, is four-nights long fireworks competition at the end of Hogueras de San Juan – a famous summer festival in Alicante Spain.
At the beginning of Postiguet Alicante beach, close to Hotel Meliá, you can find bus and tram stops, providing an excellent connection with the long beach of San Juan and the rest of the city. The narrow-gauge railway station is situated at the end of the beach.
If you are hungry, you can just cross the street and walk back to Explanada promenade with numerous restaurants and pizzerias. Another option is to have a break in the harbor’s restaurant-complex, quite close to the Postiguet beach, at the other side of waterfront hotels.
