A Look at Benidorm Tourism

There was a period in time when Benidorm was highly dependent on its fishing activities, the industry declined though and the town had to look for other ways for economic prosperity and they turned to tourism. It was the right choice since Benidorm tourism has been very successful. You just have to look at all of the many tall buildings dotting this place to see the success of tourism. Benidorm is in fact referred to as the “Manhattan of Spain” or “Beniyork”.

Part of the fundamental groundwork of the building boom is attributed to the building plan laid down by Pedro Zaragoza Orts a mayor in the 1950s that basically stipulated that all buildings have an area of leisure land so that there would not be a crowded building environment. So you have tall buildings but still ample space.

Of course, Benidorm would not be where it is now if not for its fantastic location which allows it to have temperatures that are warm throughout the whole year. It is located north of Alicante and is protected by mountains to the north and the gets pleasant temperatures from the Mediterranean Sea that borders its coastline.

Benidorm has among the best beaches in Europe particularly Levante Beach to the north-east side of the city. At the southwest side split by the town center is Poniente Beach and a smaller beach right below the town center Mal Pas Beach. These are very clean beaches.

There are many water activities that also attract tourism. Benidorm offers jet skiing, paragliding, scuba diving, snorkelling, and other water sports. Boat trips are also available; there are glass-bottom boats so you can look at the marine life below. You can also visit Benidorm Island and see its natural habitat and its peacocks. You can go to another locality by boat in the morning and be back by afternoon.

Benidorm is internationally known for its nightlife and tourists will not be disappointed. There are famous nightspots like the Benidorm Palace and its fabulous cabaret shows. There are many establishments offering cabaret shows and other adult entertainment. You can hear live music by bands in many of the establishments and of course, there is beer and other drinks. You’ll be surprised that the prices in these establishments are fair or even cheap.

Package tours have been a significant component of the success of tourism, but now, as revealed by more upscale hotels and establishments, those who have more money in their pocket also come to Benidorm. So this has become a place for people from all walks of life.

The place has also become family-oriented, it boasts of not one but four theme parks namely Terra Mitica, and near it Terra Natura which has a great roller-coaster of rides and animals on display. There is also Mundomar and beside it Aqualandia which has a more water-based theme.

There are other activities meant for the kids and pubs and even some cabarets take into consideration children in their service offering.

Benidorm tourism is for everyone.
