Benidorm Useful Info
Benidorm is one of Spain’s premier resort towns and boasts a special microclimate, created by the surrounding mountains, that rarely sees temperatures fall below 15 degrees Celsius, even in the winter months.
The peak tourist season runs from May to October, with the town seeing a huge increase in traffic during July and August when visitors from all over Europe come to cool off in the waters of the Mediterranean Sea.

The quieter Poniente Beach to the west meets with the Levante Beach beneath the majestic Plaza del Castillo.
Benidorm hosts excellent promenades for strolling through the town, but you can also rent a car, take a taxi, or rely on the inexpensive public transportation system. A Bonobos card for 20 rides can be purchased for about €16, and single trips on the main bus route cost as little as €1.50. Buses run between 8 AM and 11:30 PM and make frequent stops along all routes. The bus from the Alicante International Airport runs every hour on the hour. Taxi services run 24 hours a day and should cost about €5-8 (depending on the time of day) within central Benidorm. Cabs are white with a marine-blue stripe; they indicate their availability with green lights on the roof and “libre” signs displayed in the passenger window.
Apart from the great choice of water sports (e.g. skiing, scuba diving, snorkeling, and parasailing) and nightclubs, Benidorm is home to a family theme park called Terra Mitica, Aqualandia Water Amusement Park, Mundomar Marine Exotic Animal Park (showcasing animals like parrots, dolphins, and penguins), safari parks (with children favorites like lions, elephants, and giraffes), and more. Benidorm beaches are world-class, but don’t forget about the roller coasters, waterfalls, and zoos! There’s even a wax museum (the Museo de Cera) and a museum of agriculture (the Museo de Agricola).
From Benidorm, you can reach tourist attractions in other Spanish cities—St. Barbara Castle in Alicante, the whitewashed houses of Altea, the City of Arts and Science in Valencia, or the tunnel carved into the side of a mountain in Guadalest. The Balearic Islands, including Ibiza, are easily serviced by regular ferry trips. Wherever you go, English is widely spoken and –understood, but locals will appreciate your efforts to speak Spanish and respect their culture.
